CBS' vampire drama "Moonlight" will not rise again.

Sources confirm the fan favorite will not be renewed by the network for a second season.

CBS declined to pickup the series because it was failing to hold its "Ghost Whisperer" lead-in and declined in the ratings post-strike. Last Friday's episode garnered a 2.0 rating among adults 18 to 49.

The news will doubtlessly devastate "Moonlight" fans, which have been very passionate for the show by any standard. Recently fans organized a nationwide blood drive to rally viewer support for a renewal.

But last year CBS picked up cult favorite "Jericho" despite mediocre ratings, only to see the series plummet when it returned this year. With "Moonlight" having a serialized storyline, the chances of the show rebounding next season seemed slim.

The cancellation means "The Big Bang Theory" is the only member of CBS' freshman crop to return next year.

I really think that the networks are no longer deserving of great t.v. anymore. Serialized shows (Moonlight, Jericho, Journeyman) especially are probably better off on cable nowadays. 'Moonlight' would be a better fit for the Sci-Fi Channel anyways. I sincerely hope this is not the end of 'Moonlight'.

The word on the airways is that we are a cult...

We are not a cult...I'm a 48 year old female who loves to watch drama, romance and action stories. And when the main actor is tall and handsome you could say that I'm hooked. Moonlight has alot to offer it's viewer's. Yah, it's about vampires and that is the reason I was a late bloomer on watching the show at first. But, as usual there was nothing else on one night and I watch episode 12 on rerun. I was intinally hooked had to find episodes 1 thru 11. And did on you tube. WE ARE FANS not A CULT.....

RRRR all the good shows disappear!
The Big Bang stays but Moonlight which is fun and sexy is gone? Please Scifi pick it up and make me a happy momma.
Moonlight is a show that I enjoy watching with my teenagers and my IQ doest drop as a result\

It's one of the great and with Twilight coming out in theatres in December vampires are sure to be the nexxxt big thing so it'd be a pretty poor decision to cancel now! I love this show. I only saw the LAST ep of the season and I was hooked automatically. I have never been so hooked to a show with only seeing ONE episode. PLEASE consider bringing it back...{:PLEASEEEE

This is really ridiculous. I am not a fan of Vampire anything, but I accidentally caught this by mistake and was instantly ingtrigued. The chemistry between the characters and the storyline is AMAZING. This show has quickly made it into my top 3 and I have never missed an episode. CBS must consider.
