I was starting to like Criminal Minds, and as much as I love Frankie Muniz as well, “True Night” was a very upsetting episode. Even though the violence is implied, it’s still graphic.

(warning: spoilers below, if you haven’t seen the episode)

I strongly dislike entertainment that has the message “It’s okay for a woman to be brutalized if her boyfriend/lover/husband avenges her.” And the worst part of it was at the end, when his psychosis is revealed and he says “They made me watch!!” So he’s upset that he had to watch, but what about HER pain?

I know none of it is real, but it’s no surprise that a lot of women adopt the victim mentality- TV and movies teaches it to them.
(this is not a statement about women who had no choice in their circumstances)
