This is the oliv3r.net review for Dexter season 2 episode 1 pre-release this episode will air on on september the 30th
The premiere kicks off with a nice long recap of last season's events and the episode is
appropriately named "It's Alive".

38 days, 16 hours and 12 minutes have passed since Dexter's last victim, his brother.
And he hasn't killed again since then; Sergeant Doakes makes sure of that, tailing him like a shadow.
But his exasperation soon turns to hope and eclipsing Doakes, he soon has his next potential victim,
a blind voodoo charlatan, wrapped up in plastic all nice and ready to be chopped up.
After the customary scalpel face-carving, disaster strikes....

He can't bring himself to do it, his hands won't let him. "Oh! What the fuck!?!"
Cutting him loose, and a boat trip later, pondering what might be wrong with himself,
Dex goes into flashback mode where we learn he had almost killed his own father, amidst a wild
"psychopathic frustrations" debate.
Back on the job, all hell breaks loose, when the victim's mother enters the crime scene, imploring Dex
to kill the man responsible for her son's death.

What really sets him off however, is the hopeless expression of the dead man's kid sister..

Which reminds him of his own past..

"That look... I know that look..."
Further flashbacks reveal Dexter had never experienced a 'racing heart'.
Hence, his amazement at his father's elevated pulse..

And right there and then, he gets his shot at the much coveted adrenaline rush...

"A challenge... a mountain to climb... I need this one..."
Meanwhile, at Dex's dumpsite, two 'treasure hunters' uncover the massive grave of bagged body parts...

Obsessed with murder, Dex manages to sedate 'Little Chino' and bring him back to voodoo-man's shack,

mark him in the usual way, though erratic,

and this slight moment of hesitation proves costly, as Chino outpowers him and takes off..

39 days, 22 hours and 18 minutes since the last kill, "I am cursed".
Back into flashback, a teenage Dexter comes to the realisation he doesn't feel anything, much less alive..

A detour at Casa del Rita turns out awful as well; Paul Bennet is dead.. in prison.. after Dexter sent him there..

But, the news on tv is the most catastrophic...

Or at least we thought...

"It's amazing."

His heart is beating... thunderously... It's Alive!!
fade to black.
